03/05/2013: Members of Radio Club of Lyly Signals Depot (OI3V) will be QRV from
3-5 May as OH0/OI3V from Eckero Island, Aland (EU-002, WWFF OHFF-037). Activity

03/05/2013: A team from the Egyptian Radio Amateur Society for Development
(ERASD) plans activity from Jazirat Disuqi [aka Nelson's Island] and lighthouse
(AF-109, WLOTA 2694, WW Loc. KM51BI) between 3-10 May 2013. Note: Dates may
change. Belonging to the Nile Delta and Sinai Region Group, this IOTA has never
been activated. The island is approximately 20 km east of the Egyptian port of
Alexandria, 4 km north of Cape Aboukir. Activity will be on most HF bands, 80-10
metres. The team of operators, so far, consists of Said SU1SK, Hossam SU1HM,

03/05/2013: From 1st to 3rd May the traditional ham radio spring festival
"GreenFest-2013" will take place in Dniprovsko-Teterivskyi Nature Park (WWFF
URFF-070). Two stations, EM44U and EO5UFF, will be on the air during the event.

03/05/2013: Members of the club station UT4IYZ will activate Velikoanadolsky
Reserve (WWFF URFF-116), Ukraine, from 3-6 May 2013. They will sign UT4IYZ on HF

03/05/2013: A team of ten Australian Radio Amateurs will be active as VK9NT
from 3-13 May 2013 with four stations covering all bands 80-10 metres on CW, SSB
and RTTY. Their operating QTHs will be from the Pacific Palms and Anson Bay
Lodge properties on Norfolk Island (OC-005, WFF VKFF-392, WLOTA 1469). Team

05/05/2013: On 5th May 2013, Piotr M0MNV will be M0MNV/m or /p from the
Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - Natural Park (WWFF

05/05/2013: Look for Joakim, SA7BGN, to be active as homecall/p from the island
of Krokholmen, an uninhabited island of the Skagerak sea, from 5-8 May 2013. He

06/05/2013: David, ON4DN will be active holiday style as MJ/ON4DN/p from the

07/05/2013: Look for Gert, ZS6AYU, to be active holiday style as C91GR from
Bilene, Gaza province, Mozambique, between 7-11th May 2013. Plans are to be QRV

07/05/2013: Tony, ZL2AGY, plans to return to Rarotonga (OC-013), South Cook
Islands, and will be active as E51AGY from 7th May 2013 for approx 24 days. This
will be a CW only operation running a K3 barefoot, and may include some activity

08/05/2013: Akira (JH8XGS) W3ANA/KH0 and Ben KH0/JA1RTS will be active on all

09/05/2013: Rich, KE1B and Anna, W6NN will be QRV from the island of Anguilla
(NA-022, WLOTA 1474) as VP2EAQ and VP2EAR, respectively, from 9 May through 16
May 2013. This is a "Holiday" DXpedition, combining radio and Caribbean fun, so
operation will NOT be maintained 24/7. They will be using a single station at
100W, with a Buddipole antenna system directly adjacent to the sea. Operation
will be on all bands 40-10m (including WARC), and all modes (CW/SSB/RTTY). They
expect to have Internet access, and plan to upload logs to Clublog daily. You

10/05/2013: A large group of Westnet DX Group members will be active as EJ7NET
from the Aran Islands (EU-006) from 10-15 May 2013. Team members include EI6FR,

10/05/2013: Continuing the Camb-Hams traditional Scottish Island activations,
GS3PYE/p will be active once again from the isle of Mull (IOSA NH15, SCOTIA
CN10, WLOTA 2485, Grid Loc. IO76), Inner Hebrides (EU-008), from Friday 10th May
until Thursday 16th May, 2013. All HF bands from 600m (472kHz) to 10m covered
with five stations on air simultaneously, all capable of running the legal power
limit from five linear amplifiers. Also 6m, 4m and 2m with a great take-off to
the UK and Europe, again all at legal limit. With the success of EME last year

COMMUNICATIONS TEST - The Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard
are co-sponsoring the annual military/amateur radio communications tests in
celebration of the 63rd Anniversary of Armed Forces Day (AFD). Although the
actual Armed Forces Day is celebrated on Saturday, May 18, 2013, the AFD
Military/Amateur Crossband Communications Test will be conducted 11 May 2013 to
prevent conflict with the Dayton Hamvention (17-19 May 2013), which is the same
weekend as the actual Armed Forces Day. The annual celebration features
traditional military to amateur cross band communications SSB voice and Morse
Code tests. These tests give Amateur Radio operators and Short Wave Listeners
(SWL) an opportunity to demonstrate their individual technical skills, and to
receive recognition from the appropriate military radio station for their proven

11/05/2013: Operators Paul MJ0PMA, Mathieu MJ0ASP, Phil GJ4CBQ and Steve MJ0ULE
will be active as GH3IT from the GJ2A contest station, La Moye, isle of Jersey

16/05/2013: John YB5NOF, Anton YB5QZ Anton and 2 others plan to activate some
islands of Indonesia. John, YB5NOF, has received two licenses and callsigns for
the expeditions. His plan is as follows: The callsign YE8P will be used to
activate Pulau Banggai [Banggai Island] (OC-208), located at the far eastern end
of Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, between 16-19 May 2013. The team will then
travel to Pulau Togian [Togian Island] (OC-213), in the Gulf of Tomini, off the

26/05/2013: VUCC grid hunters who need Canadian grid EO40 may want to listen
for Mike WB8BZK/VE3 who will activate EO40ud for six days from Seseganaga Lake,
Thunder Bay District, in Ontario, from 26-31 May 2013. Band: 50 MHz SSB and CW.
Frequencies: 50.135 MHz (starting on the calling freq, 50.125 MHz and moving up
to 50.135 during an opening). Equipment: Icom 706 with 100W into a 3-element
beam up 30 feet, battery powered. Activity times: Mike will check for activity
each morning at 1230Z and then again between 2230Z and 2300 each evening. He

modes during the entire month of May 2013 to celebrate World Telecommunication

03/05/2013: Special event station 8J2I will be aired from May until 30 November
2013 to celebrate the Shikinen Sengu Ceremony (Reconstruction of a shrine
building once every 20 years at Ise Jingu or Ise Grand Shrine). Ise Grand Shrine
is a Shinto shrine dedicated to goddess Amaterasu-omikami, located in Ise-city
(JCC 2103), Mie prefecture, Kansai region, island of Honshu (AS-007, WLOTA
2376), Japan. Officially known simply as Jingu, Ise Jingu is in fact a shrine
complex composed of a large number of Shinto shrines centered on two main
shrines, Naiku and Geku. The shrine buildings are rebuilt every 20 years as a
part of the Shinto belief of the death and renewal of nature and the
impermanence of all things - wabi-sabi - and as a way of passing building
techniques from one generation to the next. The rebuilding of the main shrine
takes place on an adjacent site next to the old, and each rebuilding alternates
between the two sites. The next scheduled rebuilding of Naiku is due in 2013 on

03/05/2013: Special callsign 8J2KSG7X will be active on all bands and modes
until 31 October 2013 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Kasugai-city (JCC
2007), Aichi prefecture, Chubu region, island of Honshu (AS-007, WLOTA 2376),
Japan. During the Meiji period, the area was organized into villages under
Higashikasugai District, Aichi, with the town of Kachigawa established on July
25, 1900. On June 1, 1943, Kachigawa merged with neighboring villages of
Toriimatsu and Shinogi to form the city of Kasugai. In 1958, Kasugai annexed the
neighboring towns of Sakashita and Kozoji. Kasugai gained Special city status on

03/05/2013: Special station 8J88Y will be QRV on all bands and modes until 9
June 2013 to celebrate the 22nd Yosakoi Soran Festival (A festival, which is
mixed (1) a Naruko (or a clapper) of Yosakoi Matsuri (or Festival) in Kochi
prefecture and (2) a local folk song "Soran Bushi (or Song)" in Hokkaido
prefecture. Where, - Yosakoi: "Come on over tonight," and - Soran: A hoy when
pulling in a fishnet to catch herring.). Every June, the Yosakoi Soran Festival,
a huge dance festival in Hokkaido, is held in the Odori Park, Sapporo-city (JCC
101, JCG 01029), Ishikari Subprefecture, Hokkaido prefecture, island of Hokkaido
(AS-078, WLOTA 2967), Japan. A number of special stages are constructed, and
thousands of dancers parade and dance down the streets and on the stages.

all bands and modes during the entire month of May 2013 to celebrate the 200th

03/05/2013: Special event station DR0PALAEON brings attention to the oldest
human-made weapons ever discovered in an archaeological exploration near
Schoeningen, Germany. The discovered spears date back ca. 300000 years. Activity
begins May 2013 and will continue till the end of March 2014 (special DOK SPEERE

03/05/2013: Special callsign HB10BE is currently active until 31 December 2013
to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Amateurfunkgruppe Burgdorf (HB9BE). QRV on

01/05/2013: Slovakia's telecommunications agency was installed 20 years ago.
Special event station OM20TUSR will be active to celebrate this event. The
agency's spokesman, Roman Vavro (OM3TOW), will be QRV until 31st of December

03/05/2013: OM60DAT is a special event station in the context of the 60 year
anniversary of the Transport Academy in Trencin. QRV till the end of the year on

03/05/2013: Geetruidenberg, Netherlands, was granted city rights 800 years ago.

03/05/2013: To commemorate the 35th anniversary of the world well-known ARC of
Provins, F6KOP, and the inauguration of its new facilities, will be aired the
special callsign TM35KOP, between 3-18th May 2013. All modes, including rare
ones will be used from 160m to 10 GHz, from the locator JN18PN. Most activity on
week ends, on 8th and 9th May and on 18th May, date of the manifestation in
Provins. QSL bureau goes via the French Bureau to F6KOP. Direct QSL go via F5NQL

Tom, KC0W (ex-ZD7X, XU7XXX), will be active from the extreme northern tip of
Haiti as HH5/KC0W for 18 days in July 2013. He states: "This will be a CW only
DXpedition on 80-6m using vertical antennas over salt water. The operating
location has unobstructed take-offs to North America, Europe and Africa. Haiti
has been under-represented on CW. More info before July." [DX World]

visits the authorities to get the permit to stay 4-5 days on each island. His

During the months of May and June 2013 Simon, HS0ZIB will again operate XZ1K
from Tanintharyi State, south Myanmar. He will only operate on PSK31, according
to when he has free time. From 1st July, Simon will be working in Laos, but he
will try to return each holiday to re-activate XZ1K. QSLs will only be available
via online verification. There is of course, no bureau in Myanmar and he will
have no permanent address there. Simon will mail out a hard-copy QSL for each
QSO verification. SWLs may also submit their reception reports. Website:
